Oneonta, Alabama
For as long as I could remember, I've always been on the move. I moved apartments every year and typically cities too. As stated in previous posts, I currently reside in North Carolina and have been here for 3 years. Recently, I went back home for a few days. Oneonta, AL is a small rural city I lived in once upon a time ago.
Oneonta is the
type of city where people move to raise a family or retire to. There
wasn't and still isn't a lot of things to do there, but it was quiet and
peaceful. I moved back to Birmingham because I had an older car and my
commute was 2 hours round trip.
Fun fact about Oneonta, AL: the area is known for its Covered Bridges. There are still three in remarkable condition. When I lived in Oneonta, I visited all three bridges. Swann Covered Bridge is the most famous one; it's also the longest one.
Another fun fact: there are some Covered Bridges up here in N.C. I photographed two (check previous posts).
Swann Bridge. When I lived in Oneonta, you could actually drive through the bridge, but now there are barriers up to keep cars out. I'm assuming the amount of cars driving through the bridge began to take its toll.
I took these photos about 4 in the evening. I also had to adjust the
brightness since the sun was right in front of me. I wish I had taken
the photo earlier in the day.
The area on the other side of Swann Bridge. Water flows under the bridge but as you can see, the levels have dropped.
Below are some photos of Swann Bridge I took back in 2018 when I lived in Oneonta. I'm so thankful I saved them. I liked to juxtapose my Polaroids photos with my iPhone photos because the size of the subject may not look accurate on Polaroid.
This next assortment of photos down below were shot at Palisades Park. It's a couple miles out from Swann Bridge but still within city limits.
This little building is called Meditation Point. The three photos above were taken with my Fujifilm.
The photo on the right is another shot of Swann Bridge.
