Greensboro, NC

The 'Boro (little goofy nickname for the city) has been my home for the last 2 going on 3 years. I've compiled at least close to 50 something Polaroids that I've shot around the city during my time here. These clusters are the most recent. I have the older exposures in a folder that I need to upload (hopefully soon if my ADHD allows me haha).  I shot these Monday. Typically, cloudy days are the best conditions to shoot film. Unfortunately, these photos came out lackluster. I went out 10am after, hoping the sun would be in a decent position. I'm really disappointed because these shots would have turned out great. I might need to switch back to my older Polaroid cameras. I've been using my Polaroid Flip. It's supposed to automatically adjust the brightness depending on the available light (older ones YOU have to adjust manually). Granted, the film I used has been in the fridge since last year. It expires a year from the manufacturer date which would have been 07/2...

Natural Chimneys/Afton, VA

Image
So, I'm four months late posting these. This day trip happened backed in December of 25'. The winter season decreases my drive and motivation to do the simplest of tasks. I bought a physical scanner to transfer my Polaroids to my laptop so, you'll see a change in the scan quality. Anyways, peep the blue tint on these photos. Not-so-fun-fact, shooting Polaroids in temperatures below 35F gives you this end result. They're not terrible, per say, but they aren't the best. It's a shame because I have no intentions of returning to Natural Chimney. It was a nice sight, but not one worth revisiting again.  The Natural Chimneys are located near an unincorporated community called Mt. Solon.       As always, I take shots with my iPhone in case the Polaroids don't turn out well. It was a sunny day, but the temperature disrupted the color and contrast.      The Natural Chimneys are also referred to as :The Cyclopean Towers." Here's the plaque with more informa...

Greensboro: City of Murals

Image
Some murals I shot around Greensboro NC.        These photos were taken on two different days at two different points in time. The funny part? They're right beside each other.    These murals are behind the movie theater.   I snapped this shot with my Fujifilm Instax Wide.    Taken with my Fujifilm.   Taken with my Fujifilm.      It's a little challenging to see due to the overexposure from the light.     Very Banksy inspired.          I couldn't get a good shot with my Polaroid because the sunlight was behind the building at the time.      This mural is behind the train (maybe bus?) depot. I couldn't get closer for a better photo, unfortunately.      I can't remember if it was a cloudy day. The mural is very opaque. Unsure of why the photos look so ashy lol.   Of all my Polaroids I've shot, this particular one is in my top five. I just wished it had bee...

Red Mountain Park, Birmingham, Alabama

Image
At 1,500 acres, Red Mountain Park is the largest urban park in the United States. Red Mountain was the site of several mines that supplied iron ore to the blast furnaces of Birmingham and surrounding areas (there are remnants of furnaces in Brierfield and Tuscaloosa that are miles outside of the city). The crude iron mining operations contributed heavily to the city's growth and industry during the height of its use. The last ore mine closed in 1971.  Of all the places I've hiked around Alabama, RMP holds a special place inside my heart. I missed this place so badly after moving out of Alabama. I don't go back home to Alabama often, probably once a year at most. So, when I made the decision to go this time, I had to visit Red Mountain.      The Redding Shaft Mine.   My photos came out a little overexposed because of where I was standing in the sunlight.    In regard to the photo above on the right side, this was the image I was trying to capture but th...
